I prefer 8 - 12, 1 hour lunch, then 13-17. With lectures packed in to those time blocks.
This way I get a good separator between "study" and "free". And it's easy to know how much time I spend, and that I spend the minimum time the school recommends.

Programming assignments don't count in to this though, I usually do those in the evenings. There's something nice about programming when it's dark outside. And I've been doing it like that since I was a kid, I guess habit plays a big role.

My ideal study time is no study time at all. I usually study when I've got breaks between classes. My best time is actually at night from around 9:00-12:00pm.
